Privacy Policy

Information you choose to send us

If you email us — a correction, a listing submission, a press enquiry, an accessibility report — we receive whatever you put in that message: your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message and any attachments. We use it to answer you, to act on the request, and to keep a record of corrections and listing consent. We do not add you to a marketing list and we do not use your address for any purpose other than the one you contacted us about.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly all websites, our hosting infrastructure processes basic request data in order to deliver pages and protect the Site: your IP address, the page requested, the referring page, your browser type and operating system, and the date and time of the request. This data is used for delivery, security and aggregate measurement.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are used, including organic search traffic. Google Analytics is loaded with Consent Mode v2 enabled: ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation remain denied, analytics storage is denied by default worldwide and granted only for visitors Google identifies as being in the United States, and every storage type is revoked when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Where consent is not granted, Google may still receive limited, cookieless measurement signals for aggregate reporting. We see counts such as page views, referrers, approximate country or region and device category — not names, email addresses or calculator inputs.

Local storage on your device

Some tools save your last inputs or your preferences in your browser’s local storage so you do not have to retype them. That data stays on your device, is readable only by the Site in that browser, and can be cleared at any time through your browser’s settings. It is never transmitted to us.

What we do not collect

We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, payment card details, government identification numbers, precise geolocation, biometric identifiers or health information. We do not ask for them and no feature on the Site requires them. Where a tool asks about your location it uses the ZIP code or city you type; we do not read device GPS.

This is the most important technical fact in this policy. Every calculator, estimator, analyzer and planner on the Site is implemented as client-side code. When you enter a conductor length, a house size, a quoted price, your wage, your overhead or any other figure, that figure is used by code running on your own device to produce the result you see.

The practical consequences:

• Tool inputs are never transmitted to our servers.
• Tool inputs are never stored in a database we control.
• Tool inputs are never shared with advertisers, analytics or any third party.
• We cannot produce your tool inputs in response to a subpoena, a data request or a security incident, because we do not hold them.

Results you print or save are produced locally. Where a tool offers a shareable link, the values are encoded in the URL, which means anyone you send that link to can see them — treat such a link as you would the numbers themselves.

The Site is funded by display advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to serve, measure and, subject to your choices, personalise advertising. This includes the use of the DoubleClick cookie and, where enabled, advertising based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Your choices:

• Opt out of personalised Google advertising through Google’s Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.
• Opt out of personalised advertising from participating vendors through the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info and the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking advertising cookies does not remove advertising; it makes it less relevant. The tools on the Site continue to work with all cookies blocked.
• Enable a Global Privacy Control signal in a supporting browser or extension. See section 6.

Advertising is constrained in where it may appear and in what it may influence. Those constraints are set out in the advertising disclosure.

The following categories of service provider process data in connection with the Site. Each acts under its own privacy policy, which governs its handling of that data.

• Hosting and content delivery. Serves pages and static assets; processes request data including IP address for delivery and security.
• Google AdSense. Serves and measures advertising; sets cookies and may use advertising identifiers.
• Google Analytics. Measures aggregate traffic, including organic search, with Consent Mode v2 enabled.
• Email. Receives and stores messages you send to our published addresses.

We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share personal information with contractors, lead aggregators, lenders or data brokers. Advertising cookies set by third parties may nonetheless constitute “sharing” or a “sale” under some state laws; section 6 explains how to opt out.

We may disclose information where required by law, valid legal process or a government request, to establish or exercise our legal rights, or to investigate and prevent fraud, abuse or a threat to the security of the Site or to any person.

The Site is intended for adults and for older teenagers researching entry into a trade. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 as those terms are used in the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact hello@truetradepath.com and we will delete it promptly. Advertising on the Site is not directed to children, and we apply the controls available to us to exclude child-directed advertising categories.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act gives you the following rights in relation to personal information we hold about you.

• Right to know. To request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties to which it was disclosed.
• Right to delete. To request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to statutory exceptions.
• Right to correct. To request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Right to opt out of sale or sharing. To direct us not to sell or share your personal information, including for cross-context behavioural advertising.
• Right to limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by the statute.
• Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you access to the Site, charge you a different price or provide a different level of service because you exercised any of these rights.

How to opt out of sale or sharing

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or a browser extension transmits a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information for that browser, and we do not require you to take any further step. In practice this means we instruct our advertising partner to serve only non-personalised advertising for that browser, and the instruction is sent before any ad is requested. You may also opt out of personalised advertising through the controls in section 3, or by emailing hello@truetradepath.com with “California privacy request” in the subject line.

We do not hold accounts, so verifying a request to know or delete may require you to provide information sufficient for us to locate the records at issue — typically the email address you used to contact us. We will respond within the period required by law. An authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorisation.

Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy statutes — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and Oregon — may have comparable rights. We extend the mechanisms described in this section to all U.S. visitors who ask, rather than conditioning them on residency.

The Site is operated from and directed to the United States. It is not targeted at residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and the content is specific to U.S. trades, codes, wage data and licensing.

If you access the Site from those regions, please be aware that information is processed in the United States. Where the General Data Protection Regulation or UK GDPR applies to processing we carry out, our lawful bases are our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Site and in aggregate measurement, your consent for non-essential cookies including advertising cookies, and the performance of the service you have requested. You may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. • Tool inputs. Never retained by us, because they are never received by us.
• Server request logs. Retained for a short operational period for security and diagnostics, then discarded or aggregated.
• Analytics data. Retained by Google Analytics according to the retention period configured in our GA4 property (14 months by default).
• Email correspondence. Retained for as long as needed to handle the matter and to keep a record where the subject requires one — listing consent and withdrawal, and the correction record — then deleted.
• Listing records. Where an organization has withdrawn consent, the listing is removed and we retain only the minimum record needed to demonstrate that the removal was requested and actioned.

The Site is served over HTTPS and sets standard protective response headers. The strongest security measure we apply is architectural: because the tools run in your browser and we operate no user accounts, there is no store of personal tool data to breach.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Email in particular is not a secure channel; do not send us account numbers, identification numbers or other sensitive details.

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Site, our service providers or applicable law. The “Last updated” date at the head of this page always reflects the current version. Where a change materially reduces the protection described here, we will note the change prominently on this page rather than relying on the date alone. Continued use of the Site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
